About The Position

This is a hands-on laboratory role designed for a student who is excited about benchwork and interested in gaining real-world experience in biotech analytical development. In this role, you will work closely with experienced scientists to analyze and characterize biologics. You will gain meaningful experience using industry-standard analytical tools and techniques while contributing directly to active development programs. This co-op offers direct, hands-on experience in biologics analytical development, contributing to active therapeutic programs.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field such as pharmaceutical sciences or biotechnology.
  • Strong interest in analytical development and biotech/pharmaceutical drug development.
  • Familiarity with basic lab techniques (pipetting, buffer prep, aseptic technique) preferred.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excited to work at the bench and learn new instrumentation and techniques.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Team-oriented and collaborative, with the ability to work effectively in a matrixed, cross-functional environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel

Nice To Haves

  • Prior coursework or lab experience in analytical chemistry or biochemistry is a plus (not required).
  • experience with chromatography data software (e.g., Empower, Chromeleon) is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and apply laboratory separation techniques, including HPLC/UPLC (reverse phase, size exclusion, ion exchange), fragment analyzer, and capillary electrophoresis (CE-SDS, cIEF) to assess product quality
  • Perform biochemical, and biophysical assays (e.g., ELISA, SEC-MALS, DLS, spectrophotometric assays) to characterize different molecule types
  • Assist in developing, optimizing, and troubleshooting lab methods and analytical workflows
  • Run tests to measure concentration, purity, identity, stability, and other critical quality attributes
  • Prepare samples, buffers, reagents, and mobile phases needed for experiments
  • Maintain detailed, accurate, and organized experimental records in lab notebooks and/or electronic systems (e.g., ELN)
  • Analyze and interpret data, and summarize results clearly for the team
  • Present findings and participate in scientific discussions, including team meetings and program updates
  • Follow all lab safety protocols and complete required safety training
