About The Position

Join our team at Scientific Protein Laboratories (SPL), a world leader in biosourced pharmaceuticals, located just outside of Madison, Wisconsin in Waunakee! SPL is an innovative biopharmaceutical leader with unique products and services supporting the pharmaceutical industry globally. For over 40 years, SPL specializes in the development and cGMP compliant manufacturing of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs). SPL has an exciting opportunity to join the team as a SA Chemist. The SA Chemist is responsible for analytical method development, method validation and performing chemical testing and analyses in accordance with written procedures. This work is conducted in compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP), FDA regulations and applicable company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related scientific discipline.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience required

Nice To Haves

  • 5 or more years of relevant experience is preferred.
  • Experience with analytical techniques such as HPLC, UPLC, UV-Vis spectroscopy and related instrumentation is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • With assistance from management, author and/or execute chemical experiments, analytical method development and method validation efforts.
  • Perform chemical analyses in support of research and development activities, manufacturing operations, product release and stability studies.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), test methods and protocols to obtain accurate and reliable results.
  • Accurately document experimental data, observations and results on appropriate documents and electronic systems in accordance with data integrity requirements
  • Prepare, qualify and document reagents, solutions, standards, and reference materials as required
  • Communicate analytical issues, deviations, and out of specification results or other concerns to management in a timely manner.
  • Perform routine calibration, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance of laboratory instrumentation and equipment., and coordinate with vendors to schedule service and calibrations as needed.
  • Coordinate instrument service, maintenance and calibration activities with external vendors as required.
  • Write, review and revise SOPs, protocols, technical reports, CAPAs and deviations.
  • Review, interpret and verify analytical data generated by other analysts.
  • Maintain laboratory facilities, equipment and work areas in clean and organized conditions.
