As an Analytical Chemist, the candidate will be responsible for conducting leading edge research and development activities with specific applications towards manufacturing, production, quality operations, or related national security applications. The candidate will perform initial literature research, method development at the benchtop, quality control development for various analytical instrumentation, and analysis/validation of results. The candidate will serve as the primary laboratory operator for various research projects in chemistry, instrumental analysis, and material science. Candidate must be able to perform hands on work in the laboratory with minimal supervision. In addition, the candidate will coordinate and prepare technical aspects of engineering projects from inception to completion, including project reviews, and give formal presentations to plant personnel and other interested parties. The candidate will participate in the development, research, and/or design of proposed improvements in production and the formulation of broad programs and mandatory requirements, acting as a leader, advisor, or consultant as required. The candidate will work with scientists, engineers, other technical staff, and representatives of design agencies, vendors, and contractors as required to ensure effective and necessary technical cooperation at all levels that results in the completion of assigned objectives. Performs difficult and complex technical project assignments requiring lab work, instrumental analysis, and data logging and transfer. Education and/or background in subjects such as general chemistry, analytical chemistry, and instrumental analysis coursework are highly desired. Candidate must also work well in a production support environment where plant and production needs may necessitate accelerated project schedules.
