About The Position

We are currently searching for an Analytical Chemist to provide support services to satisfy the overall operational objectives of the National Heart, Lung, and and Blood Institute (NHLBI). This is a full-time, on-site opportunity in Bethesda, MD. Perform simple chemical reactions, purification procedures, and compound characterization using established protocols. Adhere to NIH laboratory safety and radiation safety guidelines.

Requirements

  • PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Radiochemistry, or related fields with at least TWO (2) years of experience OR MS in Analytical Chemistry, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Radiochemistry, or related fields with at least FOUR (4) years of experience in lieu of PhD.
  • Strong knowledge of analytical chemistry principles and techniques.
  • Experience operating analytical instrumentation such as HPLC, GC, LC/MS, and related systems.
  • Experience with analytical method development, validation, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with radiopharmaceutical or pharmaceutical quality control testing.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD “public trust”; candidates must receive approved adjudication prior to onboarding with Guidehouse.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with PET radiochemistry or radiopharmaceutical production environments
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to independently plan experiments, analyze data, and solve technical problems.
  • Ability to work safely in a laboratory environment involving radioactive materials
  • Candidates with an active public trust or suitability are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot analytical instrumentation, including HPLC, GC, LC/MS, TLC scanners, balances, and water purification systems.
  • Perform quality control (QC) testing of PET drug products, raw materials, reagents, and reference standards.
  • Conduct analytical testing using chromatography and spectroscopy techniques, including HPLC, TLC, GC, UV-VIS, and mass spectrometry.
  • Develop, optimize, validate, and troubleshoot analytical methods and QC procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory standard operations procedures (SOPs), documentation practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate QC testing schedules to support time-sensitive PET radiopharmaceutical production.
  • Maintain laboratory inventories, supplies, reagents, and documentation systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and operational qualification (OQ) of laboratory equipment.
  • Train laboratory personnel on QC procedures, equipment operation, and safety protocols.
  • Support routine laboratory operations and continuous process improvements.
