Analytic Scientist II
About The Position
FICO is hiring an Analytic Scientist II to develop data-driven analyses and predictive and decision models that solve business problems, particularly in the credit risk space. The role involves analyzing historical data, assessing data suitability for modeling, cleaning data, identifying patterns, creating and selecting variables, and defining sampling criteria and performance measures. The scientist may also support new and existing products through technical assistance, sales collateral, and ad hoc investigations for internal or external clients. The role includes oversight of project timelines, guidance of junior analysts, and potentially presenting work to clients. This is a hybrid position. The employee must work onsite at FICO’s Novato, California office at least 3.5 days per week, with the remaining time eligible to be worked remotely. The position offers the chance to collaborate with analytical and engineering teams on technology and analytics solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cognitive Science, Engineering, Physics, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, or another natural science field.
- Hands-on experience building predictive models and mining data.
- Demonstrated proficiency in one or more of R, Python, SAS, SQL, and Java/C++.
- Experience analyzing large datasets and applying data-cleaning techniques and statistical analysis.
- Knowledge or exposure to areas including clustering, classification and regression trees, random forest and gradient boosting algorithms, time series analysis, Bayesian networks, PCA, independent component analysis, linear and logistic regression, inference, estimation, experimental design, neural networks, or SVM.
- Experience with tools for machine learning and unstructured data analysis, such as H2O, Splunk, or TensorFlow, and familiarity with basic software design principles, coding standards, and best practices.
Nice To Haves
- Experience working with U.S. Credit Bureau data (highly preferred).
- Prior experience working with financial, banking, or consumer lending data.
- Experience with distributed computing environments such as Spark or Hadoop.
- Experience with cloud-based environments and services such as AWS.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop data-driven exploratory analyses, predictive models, and decision models to solve business problems.
- Analyze historical data, assess its suitability for modeling, clean data, identify patterns, create and select variables, and define sampling criteria and performance measures.
- Assist with technical product support for new and existing products and services, including producing sales collateral and conducting ad hoc investigations for internal or external clients.
- Oversee project timelines and guide junior analysts.
- May deliver formal presentations of work to clients.
