About The Position

M&C Saatchi World Services was founded in 2011 as a new global division of M&C Saatchi. Using the experience and creative capabilities of M&C Saatchi, World Services is dedicated to tackling complex behavioral and social issues. Since launch, the new division has enjoyed continuous strong growth and is now ranked as one of M&C Saatchi's most successful companies. Clients include a range of governments, INGO's, foundations and multilaterals, such as the UN, the Gates Foundation, USAID, DFID and the Nike Foundation. World Services has a strong focus on countering malign influences (including countering violent extremism (CVE); countering disinformation; countering exploitative practices), using multimedia messaging campaigns. This role will see the Analyst working as part of a core functional team – known as Insights – as well as a project delivery team that focuses on projects in the Middle East. While this role will be based in New York, the Analyst will work closely with team members from the World Services London office. Hybrid working is encouraged but fully remote working will not be possible.

Requirements

  • Degree in International Relations, Political Science, War Studies, or related subject with a military/geo-political focus.
  • Knowledge of the Middle East and understanding of its contemporary social and political dynamics.
  • Ability to conduct rapid and robust secondary research.
  • Excellent writing, editing, analytical and presentational skills.
  • Fluency in Farsi.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters in related field.
  • Familiarity with Boolean operators and social listening software such as Talk Walker, News Whip etc.
  • Familiarity with qualitative and quantitative research techniques.
  • Fluency in Arabic.

Responsibilities

  • Provide regional expertise on the geopolitics and socioeconomics of the Middle East, responding to rapid turnaround requests for insights, providing insight to support development of communications strategies and contributing to in-depth studies and regular situational reports.
  • Use media monitoring tools and social listening software, among other sources, to collect, evaluate and assess information, and analyze it to produce actionable insight and information.
  • Assist with the development, administration and interpretation of survey instruments and qualitative instruments, such as focus group discussion guides. May also contribute to focused assessments of communications campaigns.
  • Provide forward-looking analysis and strategic support for communications campaigns focused on social and geopolitical issues in the region. Prepare and present briefings and written reports with high attention to detail.
  • Support the development of communications strategies, creative briefs, campaign assessment reports, and various other tasks related to project strategy.
  • Support the work of the Senior Analysts and Insights Manager in contributing to the effective functioning of programs and projects, and the wider Insights department.
  • Respond to rapidly developing events, in the form of reporting, social listening or media monitoring. During crisis periods, may be expected to work outside of standard working hours, including evenings and weekends.
