About The Position

The Supply Chain Rotational Development Program (SCRDP) is a three-year rotational program designed to equip participants with the necessary experiences, knowledge, and skills to understand how Grainger’s Supply Chain, Operations, and Customer Experience organization delivers value to its customers. Participants will develop through hands-on project management, formal curriculum, development of technical skills and capabilities, and continuous improvement projects. Participants will complete 3 one-year rotations focused on enhancing the technical and leadership skills needed to lead supply chain operations. Potential rotation areas include Inventory Planning, Supplier Performance Management, Transportation, Network Strategy, Data Enablement, DC Engineering, Order to Cash, and Customer Experience Strategy, Design & Analytics. Participants will also receive professional development, including a structured onboarding experience, ongoing coaching and mentoring, leadership exposure, networking, and community involvement. Upon successful completion, graduates will be eligible for senior-level professional roles within Grainger's Supply Chain.

Requirements

  • Expected graduation of December 2026 or June 2027.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Bachelor’s degree required with preference in business, supply chain management, engineering, mathematics, or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant experience with data analysis tools and techniques, such as SQL, Python, R, Power BI or similar, through coursework, internships, or projects.
  • Intermediate level of expertise in MS Office is required.
  • Exposure to predictive analytics, optimization, and emerging AI applications in supply chain decision-making.
  • Ability to foster, manage and leverage relationships with stakeholders, team members, and end users.
  • Ability to operate on tight deadlines with multiple priorities subject to frequent changes.
  • No visa sponsorships.

  • Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, or related analytical disciplines.
  • Experience working with large datasets, cloud data platforms, or automation tools preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Rotate across three Supply Chain, Operations, and Customer Experience functions during the program.
  • Learn and understand the interactions between key end-to-end Supply Chain, Operations, and Customer Experience functions and apply learnings to assist with key business initiatives.
  • Lead or participate in cross-functional projects designed to reduce operational costs or improve service for our customers.
  • Apply problem-solving and critical thinking to drive cross-functional continuous improvement efforts across Grainger’s Supply Chain.
  • Develop compelling data analytics to measure department KPIs, identify opportunities for improvement, and measure impact using SQL‑based queries, data modeling, and visualization tools.
  • Leverage advanced analytics, automation, and predictive insights to support inventory optimization, service performance, and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Collaborate with technical and business partners to translate data into actionable recommendations.
  • Become proficient with data analytics, reporting and the tools and applications (Snowflake, Power BI, Business Objects, SAP) to support this work.
