About The Position

The Analyst, Research & AI Data Systems supports institutional research and regional workforce initiatives through data integration, analytics, and applied AI implementation. This position has two primary areas of responsibility. First, the Analyst works with the Institutional Research team to create data analyses, reporting tools, and AI-enabled solutions that support decision-making, student success, and strategic planning. This position will also support the Data Governance process. Second, the Analyst collaborates with Workforce Training & Professional Development and the Central Wisconsin AI Center to provide technical assistance to business and industry partners. This includes assessing organizational data needs, developing data and AI roadmaps, and supporting the practical implementation of analytics and AI solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
  • 1–5 years of experience in data analytics, institutional research, artificial intelligence or a related technical field.
  • Demonstrated experience or educations developing dashboards and reports using business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Hands-on experience in an educational or industry setting with data management, statistical analysis, and programming languages such as SQL, Python, or R.
  • Practical experience or direct education applying AI/ML methods to improve decision-making, predictive analytics, or automation of reporting tasks.
  • Demonstrated interest in and experience with AI tools and techniques, particularly as they relate to data systems, analytics, and decision support.
  • Experience working with higher education data systems (e.g., Workday, Starfish, Canvas) and external reporting sources (IPEDS, WTCS, National Student Clearinghouse).
  • Ability to read, write, analyze and interpret complex documents; present topics to internal and external individuals of all levels.
  • Ability to perform and work complex calculations, make comparisons, interpret and provide logical explanations to others.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions to critically create resolutions; interpret instructions in mathematical or diagram form with abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to perform complex operations in a variety of job-specific systems, understand functionality to apply advanced functions, manage/customize and create calculations with data.
  • Ability to understand complex concerns and formulate solutions; communicate professionally with various audiences in different situations.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain interactive visualizations that aggregate data across systems (e.g., Workday, Canvas, Starfish, external labor market tools), ensuring usability for internal stakeholders.
  • Deploy AI and machine learning techniques (e.g., predictive modeling, natural language summarization, automated reporting) to enhance analytic rigor and streamline institutional research processes, in collaboration with Information Technology and Institutional Research.
  • Conduct complex qualitative and quantitative analyses on student success, program health, workforce outcomes, and institutional initiatives; translate findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Contribute to data governance practices by promoting consistency, transparency, and responsible data usage across systems. Ensure data quality and integrity.
  • Research, recommend, and implement emerging AI/data visualization tools
  • Provide training to colleagues on dashboard use, reporting systems, and responsible AI integration.
  • Respond to requests from NTC’s Workforce Training and Professional Development team in collaboration with the AI and Institutional Research teams to respond to technical assistance requests from external stakeholders in a professional and timely manner.
  • Monitor higher education and technology trends, benchmarking institutional data capabilities against peer institutions. Recommend strategies to keep NTC at the forefront of data innovation.
