About The Position

Contributes to the overall success of the Securities Settlements team by supporting the execution of daily regulatory control activities in alignment with the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures assigned tasks are completed accurately, timely and in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures, escalating issues to management as appropriate. Requirements

  • Series 99 preferred or required based on role responsibilities
  • 1–2+ years of Possession and Control, securities settlements, reconciliation or related financial services operations experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Broadridge BPS, Postedge and DTC preferred; willingness and ability to develop system knowledge required.
  • Proficient Microsoft Excel user with strong attention to detail and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Researches and determines the type of segregation deficit and assigns daily items to the teams responsible for resolution. Each team updates the system with the action used to correct the deficit.
  • Evaluates and assigns aged segregation deficits to the teams responsible for resolution.
  • Investigates each segregation deficit, determines the cause and updates the segregation system.
  • Researches deficits to identify potential automated or processing solutions to prevent recurrence and support trend analysis.
  • Monitors daily segregation deficit responses and confirms that resolution steps have been processed and deficits are resolved.
  • Monitors aged segregation deficit responses and confirms that deficits are resolved and required documentation has been received, saved and reviewed for completeness.
  • Performs manual reconciliation to confirm Operations Control approval for each DTC segregation release.
  • Performs preventive settlement-date functions to determine whether shorts have been covered or re-hypothecation is required, working with Middle Office and the desk to prevent segregation deficits.
  • Supports supervisor/four-eye approval of manual segregation releases at depositories.
  • Confirms that BPS segregation positions match depository segregation positions and advises the settlement team of any out-of-balance items requiring adjustment.
  • Prepares MIS reporting for segregation deficits and root-cause analysis to identify trends and support process improvements.
  • Creates daily MIS reports.
  • Maintains strong relationships with desks, operations teams and other support groups.
  • Supports new business initiatives.
  • Supports operational projects to enhance, modify or change departmental systems and processes.
  • Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
