About The Position

As a member of the Market Insights & Client Strategy team within the Strategy and Insights Group (SAIG), the Analyst will work under the direction of the team members that conducts research, develops MFS’ views and delivers in depth analysis, insight and thought leadership related to capital markets and the macroeconomic environment. The Analyst will support the team in sourcing data and assisting in the analysis of capital market and economic themes. They are expected to support other members across Market Insights & Client Strategy as they develop MFS’s thoughts on equity and fixed income, multi-asset as well as macro themes. The Analyst will also support the team on projects related to retirement issues, asset allocation, and other relevant client projects. The Analyst will support the team with client ready presentations, white papers, webcasts, conference presentations and responses to client enquiries. The Analyst will work under the direction of members of SAIG (Strategy and Insights Group).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, in a related field
  • 0-2+ years of previous financial services or analytical experience is a plus, but not required.
  • Demonstrate the ability to learn quantitative tools and techniques, with the ability to perform quantitative analysis required.
  • Ability to demonstrate critical thinking skills, with the ability to distill complex topics into simple and applicable messages required.
  • Ability to demonstrate an interest in technical subject matter related to all asset classes and global capital markets.
  • Good Excel skills including the ability to design and develop investment models using macros and complex data analysis functions.
  • Ability to create presentations, spreadsheet and discussion guides efficiently is required.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous investment research or analysis a plus.
  • Progress towards CFA, MBA or other Masters' degree a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of senior leaders within Market Insights & Client Strategy, work on a research program related to all aspects and asset classes in the capital markets.
  • Partnering to continuously develop and maintain various capital markets collateral and tracking of economic and political forces, market structures, and developing ongoing commentary, views and perspectives.
  • Assist members of the team with the creating and maintaining databases and presentations related to all aspects and asset classes in capital markets.
  • This may include project-based work, compilation of existing data, research and analysis of new data, analysis and presentation creation.
  • With the direction from their manager, works in close coordination with members of the team on discrete projects related to the collection and analysis of data to support various market and macro-orientated projects.
  • Assist other team members within SAIG and perform additional duties as requested.
  • Under the direction of their manager, work closely with senior leaders within the Market Insights & Client Strategy team and with distribution colleagues on ad hoc client projects across client segments and channels.
