Requirements

  • 2+ years of professional culinary, test kitchen, food science, product testing, or related experience, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Professional culinary or cooking experience is required.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accurate data collection and recordkeeping.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to perform repetitive, standardized testing procedures while consistently following established protocols.
  • Strong written communication skills; published writing clips are a plus.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a cross-functional team.
  • Passion for consumer products, food, and kitchen innovation.
  • Ability to commit to a three-month temporary assignment, with the possibility of extension.
  • Ability to work from our New York City office four days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct hands-on testing of kitchen appliances, cookware, food products, and related consumer goods using established laboratory protocols.
  • Execute standardized testing procedures with accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail.
  • Accurately record, organize, and maintain testing data using spreadsheets and internal databases.
  • Assist with the day-to-day maintenance, organization, and operation of the Kitchen & Cooking Lab.
  • Procure groceries, ingredients, and other supplies needed to support product testing.
  • Manage laboratory inventory, including tracking equipment, supplies, and product samples.
  • Prepare testing materials and ensure laboratory workspaces remain stocked, organized, and ready for daily testing.
  • Contribute to digital content by updating existing articles and writing product reviews as project priorities and workload permit.
