About The Position

We are seeking an Analyst I, IT to join our IT/OT Operations & Projects team in Sudbury, ON/ St. John’s NL. This is a permanent position working closely with operational stakeholders, engineers, vendors, and technology teams, you will help deliver projects involving Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), industrial networks, predictive maintenance systems, autonomous and remote operations, environmental and geotechnical monitoring, industrial cybersecurity, mining intelligence platforms, and Industry 4.0 technologies. Reporting to the Supervisor, Industrial Technology Projects, this role will lead and support the successful delivery of industrial technology initiatives across Vale Base Metals operations.

Requirements

  • College Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 to 4 years of experience in project management, industrial technology, operational technology (OT), information technology (IT), infrastructure, or related disciplines.
  • Experience managing small to medium-sized technology projects.
  • Strong understanding of Industrial IT and Operational Technology environments.
  • Knowledge of industrial networks, cloud technologies, automation systems, and infrastructure platforms.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles within IT/OT environments.
  • Strong project planning, organization, and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to analyze technical and operational data to support decision-making.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with a continuous improvement mindset.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field is considered an asset.
  • Experience working within mining, manufacturing, industrial, energy, or other operational environments is considered an asset.
  • Experience working with technology vendors, contractors, and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience supporting infrastructure, operational systems, automation technologies, or industrial networks is preferred.
  • PMP certification or equivalent project management certification.
  • Industry certifications related to networking, cybersecurity, cloud technologies, or industrial systems.
  • Knowledge of Agile and Waterfall project methodologies.
  • Experience in digital transformation, Industry 4.0, IIoT, automation, or mining technology solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Industrial Technology projects from initiation through implementation, ensuring scope, budget, schedule, quality, and business objectives are achieved.
  • Support demand intake, prioritization, and project portfolio management activities.
  • Develop project plans, resource requirements, budgets, schedules, and implementation roadmaps.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to develop business cases and technology strategies.
  • Coordinate project delivery across technical teams, vendors, contractors, and operational stakeholders.
  • Identify project risks, issues, and dependencies while implementing mitigation plans and corrective actions.
  • Communicate project status, challenges, and recommendations to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Facilitate project governance, reporting, and performance reviews using established PMO methodologies.
  • Support the design, implementation, and optimization of industrial technology solutions across mining and operational environments.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to develop architecture, support models, service agreements, and technology roadmaps.
  • Provide oversight for integrating software, hardware, cloud platforms, automation systems, and operational technologies.
  • Support technical evaluations, proof-of-concepts, technology trials, and solution recommendations.
  • Participate in disaster recovery, business continuity, and operational resilience initiatives.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues impacting operational performance and project delivery.
  • Stay current on emerging technologies and digital trends shaping the future of mining and industrial operations.
  • Support cybersecurity initiatives across industrial and operational technology environments.
  • Assist with compliance activities related to cybersecurity, privacy requirements, and operational technology standards.
  • Develop dashboards, reports, and performance metrics to measure project and operational outcomes.
  • Analyze data to identify opportunities for operational improvements, efficiency gains, and risk reduction.
  • Participate in audits, site reviews, safety routines, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Build strong relationships with operational teams, business stakeholders, vendors, and technology partners.
  • Translate technical concepts into actionable business recommendations.
  • Support organizational adoption of new technologies through collaboration, communication, and knowledge sharing.
  • Work across multiple functional areas to ensure successful delivery of technology solutions that meet operational requirements.
