About The Position

Every research vessel, every fleet vehicle, and every visitor walking through the door at GLERL needs someone paying attention to the details. As FWI's Analyst I supporting Facility and Vessel Support at NOAA's Great Lakes Environmental Research Laboratory (GLERL) in Ann Arbor, Michigan, you'll be the organized, customer-service-oriented presence that keeps travel arrangements, GSA vehicle logistics, mail processing, and visitor and security procedures running smoothly for the entire laboratory. If you're the kind of person who makes sure the details never fall through the cracks, this role puts your organizational skills to work directly supporting GLERL's Great Lakes research mission.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree
  • 2+ years of full-time experience in an analytic or administrative discipline
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) required
  • Ability to adapt to Government automated systems and processes
  • Valid state driver's license required

Nice To Haves

  • Strong customer service orientation with the ability to present oneself professionally at all times
  • Knowledge of Google Suite products, including email, drive, calendars, and documents, strongly desired
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite products desired

Responsibilities

  • Prepare travel arrangements and authorizations in accordance with regulations and organizational guidance
  • Prepare and route travel vouchers, ensuring proper documentation and timelines are met
  • Schedule and coordinate GSA vehicle operations for laboratory staff
  • Maintain tracking information on GSA vehicles, including mileage, usage logs, and training requirements for staff operations
  • Process mail utilizing agency meter mailing equipment and UPS/FedEx automated systems, including signing for received mail and providing forklift backup support as needed
  • Answer the main phone line and direct calls as required
  • Coordinate and participate in event hosting and functions for the laboratory, including greeting visitors and vetting them for valid credentials and citizenship requirements, to include foreign national visitors
  • Greet all other visitors to the facility and ensure security requirements are met
  • Prepare and maintain rosters of various types related to new and departing staff, ensuring information is kept up to date
  • Maintain office supplies for laboratory staff, coordinating restocking and reordering with the government representative
  • Support all staff with general administrative duties and inquiries, including making copies, records management, and general administrative processes and procedures
  • Perform other miscellaneous administrative duties related to vessel support, facility management, procurement, and property as deemed appropriate by the government point of contact
