About The Position

RBC Capital Markets is a division of the Royal Bank of Canada, a global financial services provider. The Global Investment Banking division offers underwriting of equity and debt capital, along with strategic M&A advisory services. With a presence in North America, Europe, Australia, and Asia, they provide financial advice, funding solutions, and assist with investment decisions for clients in both public and private sectors. The Global Investment Banking team in Toronto is seeking an Analyst for its Real Estate investment banking team. The RBC Capital Markets Real Estate Group is the largest dedicated real estate corporate finance group in Canada, with offices in Toronto, Montréal, Calgary, and New York. Their services include Equity and Debt Capital Markets, Mergers & Acquisitions, and Advisory & Valuation for various real estate owners. The team collaborates with M&A, ECM, DCM, and Leveraged Finance professionals to advise clients.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree program in Finance, Accounting, Engineering or a quantitative field from a leading university
  • Strong quantitative skills focused on financial analysis, accounting and financial theory
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • A high level of attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and thrive in a fast-paced and challenging environment
  • Value and possess strong competency in the following behaviours: Collaboration, Relationship Building, Communication, Integrity and Operating with Diverse and Inclusive Mindset
  • The ability to perform effectively in a team environment and excel under pressure amid demanding deadlines

Nice To Haves

  • CFA, CPA or other relevant professional designations are considered an asset, but not a requirement
  • 1-2 years of investment banking, private equity, equity research, M&A / corporate development or accounting experience an asset, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and analyze the financial needs of clients, including developing complex financial models
  • Support transaction structuring and execution efforts, with increasing levels of responsibility and accountability over time
  • Financial and written analysis of companies and industries
  • Contributing to the delivery of client meetings and presentations
  • Conducting research to analyze market trends
  • Researching and analyzing future opportunities
  • Contribute to the execution of equity and debt financings, mergers and acquisitions, and financial advisory assignments
