About The Position

The Analyst, Financial Reporting is responsible for supporting IMAX Corporation’s financial reporting, consolidation, technical accounting, and financial analysis activities. This role will work to ensure accurate financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements. The Analyst, Financial Reporting, under the guidance of the Financial Reporting management team, will be expected to assist with complex accounting matters including revenue recognition for IMAX systems, consolidations, and internal and external reporting for a global organization with over 30 legal entities, international operations and joint ventures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • CPA designation or working towards obtaining.
  • Understanding of U.S. GAAP and familiarity with ASC 606 or IFRS 15.
  • 1-3 years of experience in public accounting and/or financial reporting or corporate accounting.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Excel.
  • Flexibility to work overtime during quarter-end, year-end, and other peak reporting periods as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AI-enabled productivity tools, or data analytics solutions is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and analysis of monthly and quarterly consolidated financial results and internal management reporting packages.
  • Support the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial information.
  • Assist in the preparation of accounting analyses related to revenue recognition for IMAX Systems in accordance with ASC 606.
  • Prepare certain account reconciliations, investigating trends, variances, and unusual transactions.
  • Assist with the preparation of quarterly and annual SEC filings, including supporting schedules, note disclosures, and tie-outs.
  • Support process improvement initiatives, automation projects, and other special projects as required.
  • Assist in documenting accounting processes and maintaining strong internal controls over financial reporting.
