About The Position

The Commodity Analyst is responsible for the daily execution and analysis of commodity purchasing, risk management, and supply chain activities across grains, feed ingredients, oils, and related commodities. This role ensures accurate data, reliable reporting, and effective contract execution to support timely decision-making and uninterrupted mill operations. The Commodity Analyst partners closely with commodity buyers, logistics, accounting, operations, CRM teams, brokers, and mill operations to manage positions, monitor inventories, execute workflows, and drive process improvements. This role serves as the primary execution resource for assigned locations while providing backup support across the broader team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Finance, Economics, Agriculture, Business, or a related field.
  • 1+ years of experience in purchasing, merchandising, supply chain, logistics, or related fields, with exposure to analytics and reporting.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with the ability to work effectively across multiple systems and shared files to manage contracts, inventories, and reports accurately.
  • Able to clearly share report updates, data issues, and day-to-day activity with team members and partners.
  • Proactively raises issues and ensures alignment to support accurate decision-making and efficient daily operations.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain daily, weekly, and ad-hoc reports supporting purchasing, inventory management, usage, and exposure tracking
  • Analyze inventory positions, pipeline coverage, and shipment activity to identify risks, gaps, and inconsistencies
  • Develop and enhance dashboards, trackers, and recurring reports to improve visibility and decision-making
  • Execute and track physical contracts, inventories, and forward positions
  • Maintain and validate data across systems including Endur, SAP, and internal tools
  • Perform contract application, pricing validation, and position reconciliation
  • Monitor rail and truck logistics, including shipment status, delays, and demurrage risk
  • Reconcile brokerage, contract, and invoice activity and ensure alignment between physical execution, system data, and financial reporting
  • Support market commentary preparation and research
  • Partner with commodity buyers, logistics, accounting, nutrition, mill operations, and external partners
  • Communicate data issues, execution risks, and discrepancies clearly and proactively
  • Ensure timely and accurate information flow across teams
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting efficiency, data accuracy, and execution workflows
  • Contribute to automation, AI, and system enhancement initiatives
  • Help standardize reporting and execution processes across commodities and locations
