About The Position

The Commodity Analyst supports the Commodity Procurement Group by providing analytical and reporting support for grain procurement operations serving the company's poultry feed mills. This role monitors positions, builds merchandising reports, tracks shipments and inventories, and supports procurement activities. It's an excellent entry point into grain merchandising and commodity risk management within an integrated protein company.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent experience.
  • Basis computer skills required.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and negotiation skills.
  • Math problem solving ability to prioritize and multi-task analytical skills.

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years preferred experience.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel preferred.
  • Ability to speak and present to small and medium sized groups preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Compile and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly merchandising, position, inventory, and contract reports.
  • Track cash basis, futures prices, spreads, freight, and delivery costs across origination points and destination feed mills.
  • Monitor USDA reports (WASDE, Crop Progress, Grain Stocks, Export Sales) and summarize key takeaways for the procurement team.
  • Build and maintain dashboards in Excel to visualize price trends, basis history, supply/demand fundamentals, and feed grain coverage.
  • Track rail and barge conveyance, monitor grain inventories across elevator locations, and reconcile physical positions to contracts and hedges.
  • Assist with contract creation, release, and application of barge and rail shipments to trade partners.
  • Communicate with trade partners and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate application, hedging, and invoicing.
  • Support special projects and other duties as assigned.
