About The Position

WSP Canada is looking for a Climate Risk & Resilience Analyst to join the national Climate Change, Resilience and Sustainability team. You will work closely with teammates in our Climate Risk & Resilience practice line and have the opportunity to grow professionally by contributing to projects for public and private clients. Projects vary in type, size, and complexity, and you will be an integral part of project teams to achieve project objectives, deadlines, and financial expectations. Our team includes people from diverse backgrounds, as we support the importance of a variety of talents, skills, and experiences that foster creativity, innovation, and a range of perspectives and ideas. The ideal candidate will have the flexibility and ability to work on a wide variety of projects and will have the opportunity to work with interdisciplinary teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in architecture, engineering, or environmental science. Graduate degree (an asset).
  • Entry-level position (1 to 3 years) requiring no prior professional experience.
  • Ability to manage a project independently and with team support, ability to analyze a large amount of information.
  • Passion for climate change and climate resilience issues; motivation, autonomy, and collaborative spirit; ability to produce high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team and build client relationships.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, critical thinking, time management, and strategic decision-making skills.
  • Desire to continuously learn, improve efficiency, and develop technical and professional skills.
  • Ability to obtain federal government security clearance.
  • Bilingualism is required to participate in national initiatives involving English-speaking colleagues and clients.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge in GIS (an asset).
  • Previous experience in assessing climate risks and vulnerabilities, climate risks, and climate data (an asset).
  • Practical knowledge of climate risk assessment standards and protocols, including ISO 31000, ISO 14091, IFRS S2, TCFD, and the PIEVC protocol.
  • Practical knowledge of the Quebec context, including the Ouranos methodology for climate risk assessment and the development of a climate change adaptation plan (an asset).
  • Experience with government greening strategy or any other organizational resilience and sustainability strategy (an asset).
  • Experience in corporate sustainability studies and reports, decarbonization strategies, and life cycle assessment (an asset).

Responsibilities

  • Deliver first-rate climate risk and resilience projects.
  • Contribute to multiple projects while providing quality service within deadlines and budget.
  • Collaborate with all WSP business sectors by providing consulting services related to climate change, climate risks, and climate adaptation planning.
  • Collaborate on studies and the writing of clear and concise reports that convey technical information, an understanding of client needs and objectives, and recommendations to achieve those objectives.
  • Develop your knowledge and skills in climate change, risks, and adaptation planning to increase our expertise and the quality of our climate risk and resilience services.
  • Lead knowledge development initiatives and processes in your area of expertise.
