About The Position

As an Analyst on our Benefits team, you will be responsible for assisting the Benefit Consultants with all client management requirements, with a focus on retention of the assigned book of business and support with business development activities. Our Health and Group Benefits division provides a full range of consulting services to large, mid-size and small clients. These services include but are not limited to providing: Solutions encompassing creative plan design, vendor evaluation and management; Pricing and funding strategies; Compliance and governance strategies; Due diligence of group health plans; Benchmarking analysis; Redesign of group benefits plan to realign with client’s benefit philosophy; Assistance for global clients with Canadian operations; Act as intermediary between clients and insurers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Math, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in consulting or group benefits insurance
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills
  • Attention to detail and quality
  • Effective time management and organizational skills
  • Excellent technical skills working with Microsoft 365, particularly MS Excel (including VBA)

Nice To Haves

  • Valid group insurance license
  • Achievement of ASA / ACIA designation of the Society of Actuaries (SOA) / Canadian Institute of Actuaries (CIA)

Responsibilities

  • Perform financial analysis of insurance data and cost modeling
  • Prepare financial analysis reports and presentations communicating key results to clients
  • Maintain strong relationships and participate in negotiations with insurers and partners
  • Respond to inquiries from clients and insurers
  • Participate in calls and presentations with clients, as appropriate
  • Help in developing strategic recommendations for clients and participate in the development of new business
  • Take the initiative in the development of internal processes and tools
  • Manage the quality and timeliness of client deliverables
  • Assist in keeping the internal database and tracker up-to-date
  • Participate in the review and validation of the work done by colleagues and other team members
  • Play a proactive role in establishing and maintaining best practices
  • Maintain and develop internal technical knowledge
  • Participate in the training of new colleagues and junior team members
  • Develop and promote our company as a key player in the market with excellent knowledge of the industry
  • Other miscellaneous duties and special projects as required
