Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in information systems, finance, economics, real estate, data/analytics, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years of experience in data analysis, business analysis, data governance, data quality, or reporting.
  • Working proficiency in SQL and advanced Excel.
  • Hands-on experience with Power BI or a similar BI tool and semantic models.
  • Ability to write clear, well-structured documentation, including business requirements, data definitions, lineage maps, and test results.
  • Comfort working with large, imperfect datasets and reconciling data across multiple systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and persistence in investigating discrepancies.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with business and technical colleagues.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for AI and emerging technologies, demonstrated through hands-on use of current tools and ongoing self-directed learning.
  • Collaborative, curious, and organized approach, with eagerness to learn and grow.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in commercial real estate, investment/asset management, or financial services.
  • Microsoft Fabric experience.
  • Familiarity with data governance concepts, including data catalogs, business glossaries, data lineage, data quality rules and metrics, and master data management.
  • Experience with Microsoft Purview, Ataccama, or similar tools.
  • Interest in commercial real estate and investment management; prior exposure is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in requirements-gathering sessions and document questions, users, definitions, calculations, and acceptance criteria for data products and reports.
  • Trace data lineage for new data products, mapping data elements to source systems, owners, and transformations, and documenting gaps, overlaps, and conflicting definitions.
  • Partner with Technology colleagues to build and maintain analytical datasets and reports using SQL, Power BI/Fabric, and Excel, combining internal and external data.
  • Validate assumptions using source data, reconcile results across funds, systems, and reports, and investigate variances and anomalies.
  • Support business testing and validation by preparing test cases, comparing outputs with source and historical data, and tracking issues through resolution.
  • Turn recurring ad-hoc requests into reusable datasets and self-service reports to reduce manual work and one-off spreadsheet builds.
  • Prepare and normalize datasets for reporting.
  • Create user guides, data dictionaries, and training materials explaining data products and the questions they can answer.
  • Support AI use cases by documenting requirements and testing AI-generated outputs for accuracy and reasonableness.
  • Catalog data elements in the firm's data catalog, recording business definitions, owners, source systems, classifications, and lineage.
  • Maintain the business glossary to keep terminology, calculations, and definitions consistent across teams and regions.
  • Work with data stewards and subject-matter experts to establish data quality rules and implement automated, repeatable checks.
  • Monitor data quality and produce metrics, scorecards, and trend reporting for stakeholders and governance forums.
  • Investigate data quality issues at their source, refer them to appropriate data stewards, track remediation, and confirm fixes are made at the source rather than in downstream reports.
  • Support governance processes, including change management for definitions and datasets, data access requests, and appropriate handling of sensitive data.
