About The Position

Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology invites applications for the position of Analyst and Data Programmer in the Registrar's Office. This position serves as the technical resource for the Registrar's Office, supporting the systems, software, and data functions that keep the office running smoothly while representing the office on institute-wide technical committees. This position supports multiple systems, software, and computing functions for the Registrar's Office, including analysis, specification development, student data reporting, project work, course scheduling, and data extraction. The Analyst and Data Programmer provides report development, maintenance, and is responsible for data integrity and reporting accuracy. This includes designing queries and reports for departmental use and campus-wide distribution, meeting compliance measures for student enrollment data, and maintaining documentation of Institute data sources to support dashboards and decision-making reports. This position supports business and system processes for software used across the Institute, assisting with upgrades, maintenance, testing, implementation, and documentation. The Analyst and Data Programmer manages the student information system, workflow, and degree audit software, including scribe and plan template maintenance and troubleshooting based on academic program and curriculum needs, while identifying opportunities for enhanced software utilization. Providing overall technical support for the office, this position analyzes issues and problem-solves for end-users, assisting with special projects, research, and reporting as needed. The Analyst and Data Programmer responds to inquiries from students, parents, faculty, and staff while complying with institutional policies, procedures, and FERPA compliance. This position also provides support and backup for core Registrar's Office functions, with particular attention to peak periods such as registration and add/drop. In partnership with colleagues across the Institute, this position collaborates with members of Institute technical committees on data stewardship, business process analysis, quality assurance, and software testing, serving as an administrative computing system advocate and liaison between the Registrar's Office and Enterprise Information Technology (EIT). The Analyst and Data Programmer represents the Institute and the Registrar's Office in a positive and professional manner and collaborates with academic and other student service offices to support student retention. As artificial intelligence tools increasingly shape higher education data practices, this position also contributes to discussions on the responsible and effective use of AI in reporting, analysis, and student data management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, information technology, or a related field.
  • Two to three years of relevant experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of and experience with database software.
  • Ability to conduct research, analyze data, and interpret results.
