About The Position

As an Analyst, Alternative Investments, you will support the evaluation, execution, and monitoring of investments across a broad range of alternative strategies, including co-investments and hedge funds. You will work closely with senior investment professionals and develop the analytical skills and investment judgment required to assess complex opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, financial engineering, or another highly quantitative discipline
  • Strong academic record and/or exceptional relevant professional experience
  • 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in alternative investments, asset management, investment banking, private markets, capital markets, or another analytically rigorous investment environment
  • Strong financial modelling, valuation, and investment analysis skills
  • Exceptional analytical and quantitative capabilities, intellectual curiosity and demonstrated ability to learn quickly, with the capacity to understand complex businesses and investment structures
  • Strong attention to detail and a high standard of accuracy, combined with the ability to synthesize large amounts of information and identify the key issues that drive an investment decision
  • Sound judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with a willingness to challenge assumptions and develop an independent point of view
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex analyses and investment conclusions clearly and concisely
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong work ethic, initiative and the ability to operate effectively in a collaborative investment environment.
  • Good communications skills in English and French (or willingness to learn)

Nice To Haves

  • experience with Bloomberg, FactSet, Capital IQ, or similar financial databases is an asset
  • Progress toward, or completion, of the CFA designation is considered a strong asset

Responsibilities

  • Build financial models and perform valuation, return, scenario, and risk analyses across prospective and existing investments
  • Evaluate investment opportunities through fundamental research, financial analysis, due diligence and assessment of key investment risks and return drivers
  • Support the development of investment recommendations and the preparation of investment memoranda and materials for senior investment professionals and investment committees
  • Conduct fundamental research on companies, industries and markets in support of existing and prospective investments
  • Monitor portfolio performance and support portfolio construction and optimization analyses
  • Participate in due diligence and transaction execution, including reviewing financial and transaction materials and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders
  • Interact with external managers, investment partners, bankers, brokers and other market participants as part of the investment process
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of investment processes, analytical frameworks, portfolio tools, and research methodologies
