About The Position

TMAS (Aventis) is seeking an AMSC Test Analyst to support the Air Force at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC) at Arnold AFB in Tullahoma, Tennessee. The role involves developing and using data collection and analysis tools, collecting and analyzing data, and preparing reports. The analyst supports radiometric sensor field applications, configures and calibrates EO/IR instrumentation, performs signature data analysis, and prepares inputs for and evaluates missile or other system simulation models. The position is on-site and includes travel to remote test locations for deployments lasting one to three weeks, approximately three to five times per year. Extended hours and shift work may be required during test execution, as schedules dictate. The analyst works across multiple projects and deadlines, collaborates with senior staff and peers, and follows safety and security protocols in a test environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in physics or engineering from an accredited school.
  • Up to 3 years of experience.
  • Proficiency with Python and/or MATLAB.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
  • Willingness and ability to work extended hours and shift work while supporting test execution, as test schedules dictate.
  • Adherence to safety and security protocols in a test environment.

Nice To Haves

  • An active Department of Defense security clearance is highly desirable; candidates without a clearance will also be considered.
  • Experience with infrared and/or high-speed cameras, such as FLIR or Phantom.
  • An advanced degree or additional graduate-level coursework in physics or engineering.
  • Chemistry, fluid dynamics, or atmospheric physics background or coursework.
  • Ability to learn and effectively use a variety of government and in-house simulation codes and analysis tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience fostering cooperation and teamwork with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Engineering intern experience and/or experience in a test, aerospace, or industrial setting.

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering analysis and modeling involving measured EO/IR missile plume and hardbody signature data and models; missile propulsion, trajectory, and attitude data and models; and missile nozzle and plume flowfield models.
  • Support the AMSC Field Measurements Team in radiometric sensor field applications.
  • Configure EO/IR imagers, spectrometers, and radiometers to meet customer requirements.
  • Perform detailed laboratory calibration of signature measurement instrumentation.
  • Travel to remote test locations for deployments of one to three weeks, approximately three to five times per year.
  • Apply one or more instruments to collect signature data on targets of interest.
  • Perform radiometric data analysis, including image processing, atmospheric propagation, and target trajectory analysis.
  • Perform data extraction, metadata consolidation, and data processing and analysis to support customer and user deliverables and requests.
  • Use and support the development of government or commercial tools and applications for data processing and analysis.
  • Prepare physics-based inputs for missile or other system modeling and simulation programs, and exercise models to predict signatures.
  • Compare and analyze simulation results.
  • Document data processing, analysis, and software usage or adaptation as appropriate.
  • Create EO/IR signature data products and reports for Field Measurements Team deployments and analysis and modeling efforts.
  • Prioritize work across multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
