About The Position

Harris Ranch Beef Company is seeking an Ammonia Refrigeration Mechanic to join their Utilities team. This role is responsible for maintaining and repairing various utility equipment within a fast-paced food production environment. The ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge of industrial maintenance, including refrigeration, HVAC, electrical systems, and troubleshooting complex machinery. This position requires a strong work ethic, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to food safety and workplace ethics.

Requirements

  • Advanced Knowledge of Industrial Maintenance, Brazing, Welding, Fabrication, Electrical, PLC’s, Boilers, Refrigeration, HVAC, Use of All Hand/ Power Tools and Equipment
  • Strong Work Ethic
  • Communication Skills
  • Understanding the Role of Maintenance in Food Safety
  • Workplace Ethics
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in Refrigeration and HVAC
  • Must have EPA (universal) License or Certification
  • Must pass safety requirements including: confined space and lockout/tag out.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow OSHA requirements on MSDS.
  • Ability to read and understand all job hazards and food safety involving maintenance.
  • Ability to read and understand preventative maintenance schedules and work orders related to equipment and machinery.
  • Familiar with safety devices including air, steam, and electrical shutoff.

  • Completed Course of Ammonia Operator I & Boiler Operator I Certification
  • Degree in Industrial Maintenance Course Program
  • Knowledge of Ammonia Refrigeration Systems, Boiler Systems, and Chillers

Responsibilities

  • Identify root causes of breakdowns on various types of utility equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, disassemble, and repair pumps, electrical systems, motors, gearboxes, bearings, sprockets, drive chains, electrical controls, air compressors, augers, plumbing, and lighting.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on chillers, cooling units, condensers, boiler systems, Ammonia & Freon compressors.
  • Understand refrigeration cycles.
  • Complete a daily maintenance activity report of work performed.
  • Read and understand electrical schematics with the use of equipment manuals.
  • Adhere to safety requirements including confined space and lockout/tag out procedures.
  • Read, understand, and follow OSHA requirements on MSDS.
  • Understand all job hazards and food safety involving maintenance.
  • Read and understand preventative maintenance schedules and work orders related to equipment and machinery.
  • Familiarize with safety devices including air, steam, and electrical shutoff.
