About The Position

This position assists other maintenance technicians in the repair and maintenance of equipment by performing preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment such as lift trucks, pneumatic systems, material handling equipment, hydraulic equipment, dock equipment, and electronic and electrical equipment according to company policies and procedures. The role involves operating material handling equipment, battery equipment, moving machinery, and other powered equipment. The technician will diagnose refrigeration and electrical problems using technical drawings (blueprints, electronic/mechanical schematics) and diagnostic tools (multimeters, laptops). A key responsibility is troubleshooting and repairing complex ammonia refrigeration system problems, including equipment logic controls and external Input/Output (IO) devices. The role also includes performing preventive maintenance and repairs on refrigeration system equipment following manufacturer instructions and standard operating procedures, cleaning or preventing issues related to hazardous materials as a member of the HazMat team, and monitoring work areas for safety concerns. Additionally, the position involves leading and participating in teams, developing and implementing processes to meet business needs, and demonstrating, promoting, and supporting compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity.

Requirements

  • Option 1: Trade/vocational school degree/certification in industrial maintenance or similar area.
  • Option 2: 1 year’s experience in industrial refrigeration (for example, valve rebuilds, working with refrigeration systems).
  • Option 3: 2 years’ experience in HVAC.
  • Option 4: 2 years’ experience with wastewater treatment plants.
  • Option 5: 2 years’ experience in industrial maintenance.

  • Willingness and ability to obtain the Refrigerating Engineers & Technicians Association (RETA) Certified Assistant Refrigeration Operator (CARO) within 30 months of job entry date.

  • Monitors work areas for safety concerns according to written procedures and takes appropriate action as needed
  • Completes work orders records logs and other written or computerbased documents utilizing established procedures
  • Leads and participates in teams by using and sharing resources information and tools determining customer needs and business priorities coordinating and executing work assignments providing advice feedback and support to ensure timelines and work quality are achieved and modeling and helping others with how to adapt to change or new challenges
  • Develops communicates and implements processes and practices to meet business needs by collaborating with managers coworkers customers and other business partners analyzing and applying information from multiple sources monitoring progress and results and identifying and addressing improvement opportunities
  • Demonstrates promotes and supports compliance with company policies procedures and standards of ethics and integrity by explaining guiding and demonstrating how to apply these in executing business processes and practices implementing related action plans using the Open Door Policy and assisting management with correcting ethical and compliance issues and problems
