About The Position

Cryptonow obtained the MiCAR licence by the FMA (Financial Market Authority), ensuring compliance with the highest EU regulatory standards. With offices in Austria and Switzerland — right in the heart of "Crypto Valley" — we are looking for an experienced AML Officer to help lead the prevention of money laundering, terrorist financing and sanction evasion across our Austrian operations. The AMLO is responsible for Cryptonow's compliance with local and European legal requirements for the prevention of money laundering, terrorist financing and sanction evasion with respect to the Austrian business operations of Cryptonow. He or she manages and oversees the implementation of the relevant AML and Sanction Policy.

Requirements

  • Currently holds or has previously held a formal AML/MLC Officer title (e.g. AML Officer, Deputy AMLO, GwG Beauftragter, or equivalent)
  • Experience with FM-GwG
  • German language referred
  • Austria based referred
  • Strong analytical and investigative skills for identifying suspicious activity patterns
  • Familiarity with regulatory reporting obligations (e.g. suspicious activity reports, FIU notifications)
  • Experience conducting or contributing to risk assessments

Responsibilities

  • The preparation of a risk analysis for the company in accordance with § 4 FM-GwG and the annual update of this risk analysis
  • The introduction and further development of appropriate and suitable strategies, controls and procedures as well as (IT) systems, including the testing and monitoring of their ongoing application to ensure compliance with due diligence obligations for the prevention of money laundering and terrorist financing
  • The creation and further development of internal regulations (manuals, instructions etc.) on the prevention of money laundering and terrorist financing
  • The review of whether the measures taken and processes implemented by Cryptonow for the prevention of money laundering and terrorism financing are suitable in order to comply with the legal provisions (the review is carried out by means of ongoing checks or by event-driven ad hoc checks or by taking random samples) and, if necessary, adjusting the respective measures and processes
  • The definition and implementation of a catalogue of measures for the scope of application of the enhanced due diligence obligations
  • Ensuring the enhanced monitoring of business relationships which are subject to enhanced due diligence obligations (e.g. higher risk classification, PEP, lower transaction monitoring thresholds etc.)
  • Reviewing and approving or rejecting new business relationships to be established, business relationships that have been classified as increased risk or for which the systems require further review
  • Stopping and releasing transactions; processing anomalies in the course of continuous monitoring of business relationships, e.g. business relationships, e.g. carrying out research and investigations in order to clarify anomalies
  • The development, organization of event-driven or ongoing AML-trainings of employees and completion of such training
  • The submission of suspicious activity reports in accordance with Section 16 FM-GwG or the carrying out of requests for approval of a transaction pursuant to Section 17 para. 3 FM-GwG including notifying AT-FIU or other law enforcement authorities when appropriate
  • The establishment and further development of systems that enable Cryptonow to respond to inquiries from the Money Laundering Reporting Office or the FMA completely and to quickly provide information
  • Reporting to the management on a regular and ad hoc basis and through written (at least) annual reports; and the submission of reports pursuant to Article 17 (2) of the (revised) Transfer of Funds Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2023/1113)
