About The Position

Future Builders, Inc. is seeking a highly organized, community-minded, and results-driven professional to serve as the AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP Project Director. The Project Director is responsible for the day-to-day leadership, management, and operation of the AmeriCorps Seniors Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Project Director provides leadership for volunteer recruitment and engagement, volunteer station development, community partnerships, staff supervision, outreach, program administration, and achievement of established program goals.

The Project Director serves as a primary liaison between Future Builders, Inc., RSVP volunteers, volunteer stations, community partners, and the RSVP Advisory Council. The Director is responsible for ensuring that program activities are implemented effectively, records and data are maintained accurately, staff responsibilities are coordinated appropriately, and program services remain responsive to community needs.

The ideal candidate is a proactive and dependable leader who can balance program leadership with hands-on implementation. This individual must be comfortable supervising staff, building community relationships, managing multiple priorities and deadlines, analyzing program progress, communicating challenges early, and taking ownership of program outcomes. As part of a small and collaborative organization, the Project Director must be willing to lead by example while working closely with the Executive Director and program staff to advance the mission of Future Builders, Inc.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required, with substantial relevant professional experience; equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered.
• Demonstrated experience coordinating programs, projects, community initiatives, volunteer services, or related activities.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain professional relationships with community stakeholders.
• Ability to supervise, coordinate, and hold assigned staff accountable for established responsibilities.
• Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and appropriately identify matters requiring supervisory guidance or approval.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, and willingness to learn additional organizational systems.
• Ability to maintain accurate records, review data, prepare reports, and monitor program performance.
• Reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and willingness to travel throughout the assigned service area.
• Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends when required for program activities.
• Willingness and ability to complete required background checks consistent with AmeriCorps program requirements.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, public administration, business administration, organizational leadership, communications, human services, education, social services, gerontology, community development, or a related field.
• Two or more years of experience in nonprofit programming, volunteer management, community outreach, aging services, national service, or a related field.
• Previous supervisory or team-lead experience.
• Experience managing programs with established goals, performance measures, reporting requirements, or grant-funded deliverables.
• Familiarity with AmeriCorps Seniors, RSVP, national service, or federally funded community programs.
• Experience working with adults aged 55 and older.
• Experience developing partnerships with nonprofit organizations, public agencies, community organizations, or other stakeholders.
• Experience conducting community presentations, outreach activities, or volunteer recruitment.
• Comfort traveling throughout rural and urban communities and developing relationships across diverse populations.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee the daily operation of the AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP Program.
• Develop and implement program activities that support approved grant objectives, performance measures, and identified community needs.
• Translate program goals and grant requirements into clear activities, assignments, timelines, and measurable deliverables.
• Monitor program progress and identify areas requiring additional attention, outreach, or corrective action.
• Maintain accurate and organized volunteer, station, program, and administrative records.
• Ensure program documentation and data are entered accurately and maintained in appropriate organizational and AmeriCorps systems.
• Collect, review, and organize information necessary for required program reports and performance monitoring.
• Maintain confidential program records and protect personally identifiable or sensitive information.
• Develop and maintain program calendars, work plans, tracking systems, and other tools necessary for effective program management.
• Attend required AmeriCorps Seniors trainings, meetings, conferences, and technical assistance sessions.
• Keep the Executive Director informed of significant program developments, challenges, risks, accomplishments, and emerging needs.
• Develop and implement ongoing strategies to recruit eligible RSVP volunteers aged 55 and older throughout the designated service area.
• Establish recruitment goals and monitor progress toward volunteer enrollment and engagement targets.
• Interview prospective volunteers and identify appropriate service opportunities based on their interests, skills, abilities, availability, and community needs.
• Match volunteers with approved volunteer stations and coordinate placements with station representatives.
• Maintain regular communication with volunteers to support engagement, retention, and satisfaction.
• Monitor volunteer participation, enrollment status, service activities, and reported hours.
• Identify and address barriers affecting volunteer participation or retention.
• Develop strategies to re-engage inactive volunteers and expand the program's volunteer base.
• Coordinate meaningful volunteer recognition and appreciation activities throughout the year.
• Ensure volunteers receive appropriate program information and understand RSVP expectations and available service opportunities.
• Develop and maintain positive, professional relationships with existing volunteer stations and community partners.
• Identify and recruit new volunteer stations based on community needs and available volunteer interests.
• Work with station representatives to develop appropriate and meaningful volunteer service opportunities.
• Ensure required station documentation, agreements, and records are current and properly maintained.
• Coordinate and conduct periodic station assessments, touch bases, and site visits.
• Monitor the effectiveness of volunteer placements and work collaboratively with stations to resolve concerns.
• Maintain consistent communication with station supervisors regarding volunteer needs, opportunities, participation, and program expectations.
• Cultivate relationships with nonprofit organizations, governmental agencies, faith-based organizations, educational institutions, healthcare organizations, and other community stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities for partnerships that strengthen RSVP's reach, visibility, and community impact.
• Provide direct supervision to assigned RSVP staff, including Project Coordinator(s) and other program personnel as designated.
• Establish clear assignments, priorities, deadlines, and performance expectations for program staff.
• Conduct regular staff check-ins and provide coaching, guidance, feedback, and support.
• Monitor staff progress toward assigned goals, deliverables, and program responsibilities.
• Review staff work for accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and alignment with program requirements.
• Complete performance evaluations and participate in performance improvement processes in coordination with the Executive Director.
• Address routine performance or workflow concerns promptly and elevate significant personnel matters to the Executive Director.
• Coordinate staff assignments to ensure appropriate coverage of counties, volunteer recruitment activities, station relationships, events, and administrative responsibilities.
• Encourage professional development, accountability, teamwork, respectful communication, and continuous improvement.
• Lead by example by demonstrating reliability, professionalism, preparedness, accountability, and respect for organizational policies and procedures.
• Represent Future Builders, Inc. and RSVP professionally at community meetings, outreach events, presentations, conferences, volunteer fairs, and networking opportunities.
• Develop and implement strategies to increase awareness of RSVP and available volunteer opportunities.
• Coordinate outreach campaigns through presentations, social media, e-blasts, printed materials, telephone outreach, community events, and other appropriate methods.
• Review program outreach materials for accuracy, professionalism, and consistency with organizational and AmeriCorps requirements.
• Develop relationships with community leaders and organizations that can support volunteer recruitment and program visibility.
• Respond professionally and promptly to inquiries from volunteers, stations, community partners, and members of the public.
• Seek opportunities to share program accomplishments, volunteer stories, and community impact while protecting confidentiality and obtaining required permissions.
• Lead or oversee the planning of volunteer recognition activities, service projects, recruitment events, community presentations, and other RSVP-related events.
• Develop event timelines, assignments, budgets, supply needs, and logistical plans in coordination with staff and the Executive Director as appropriate.
• Delegate event responsibilities to program staff and monitor completion.
• Coordinate invitations, registration, printed materials, supplies, decorations, recognition items, and other event needs.
• Ensure events are implemented professionally and within approved budgets and organizational procedures.
• Evaluate events and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Assist the Executive Director in supporting and engaging the RSVP Advisory Council.
• Help identify and cultivate potential Advisory Council members who represent the communities served by the program.
• Coordinate meeting preparation, program updates, supporting materials, and other information requested by the Council.
• Provide accurate program information and updates regarding volunteer engagement, community partnerships, activities, accomplishments, and emerging needs.
• Work collaboratively with Advisory Council members to strengthen community relationships, volunteer recruitment, and program visibility.
• Maintain appropriate documentation related to Advisory Council meetings and activities.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and organized program records.
• Monitor volunteer enrollment, service hours, station participation, outreach activities, and other performance data.
• Review program data regularly to identify gaps, trends, inconsistencies, or areas requiring follow-up.
• Ensure staff submit required reports, documentation, mileage, time records, and other assigned materials by established deadlines.
• Prepare or assist with monthly, quarterly, annual, and other required program reports.
• Maintain digital and physical files according to organizational recordkeeping standards.
• Use organizational systems such as Microsoft Office, Outlook, Teams, Monday.com, JotForm, QuickBooks, Bloomerang or other volunteer management systems, and additional platforms required for program operations.
• Ensure program purchases, travel, mileage, and other administrative activities follow Future Builders policies and approval procedures.
• Maintain working knowledge of applicable AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP requirements, grant conditions, organizational policies, and program procedures.
• Ensure program activities are carried out in accordance with applicable federal requirements and Future Builders policies.
• Monitor program practices and documentation for compliance and promptly address identified concerns.
• Ensure appropriate safeguards are maintained for confidential volunteer, partner, employee, and organizational information.
• Participate in monitoring visits, audits, evaluations, and program reviews as requested.
• Implement corrective actions or process improvements identified through monitoring, evaluation, or supervisory review.
• Regularly assess program systems and recommend practical improvements that increase efficiency, volunteer engagement, data quality, communication, or community impact.
• Communicate potential compliance issues, missed targets, operational concerns, or significant risks to the Executive Director promptly rather than allowing issues to remain unresolved.
• Support organization-wide initiatives, community events, and collaborative activities that advance the mission of Future Builders, Inc.
• Assist with shared office and program responsibilities, when necessary, in a small-team environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

• Employment is contingent upon the availability and continuation of federal and/or state funds. Future Builders, Inc. does not control the duration or renewal of these funds, and therefore, the position may end if funding is reduced or discontinued.
