The Civic Leadership & Engagement Corps (CLEC) is an AmeriCorps program through Washington Campus Compact (WACC) that aims to empower students with the skills and resources to thrive in school and beyond, fostering them into compassionate leaders and engaged citizens. The program recruits AmeriCorps members and student volunteers to provide direct service in various focus areas across Washington and Idaho. CLEC promotes student leadership, campus-community partnerships, civic engagement, and knowledge networks to enhance the retention and success of underrepresented students, increase awareness and support for equity and inclusion, and build sustainable campus/community partnerships and resilient communities. This specific role addresses the prevalent issue of food insecurity among Washington State University students, exacerbated by the need for sustained funding for a campus food pantry, established through a student-passed referendum. The AmeriCorps member will focus on pantry operations, policy development, food procurement, and staff/volunteer support.
