About The Position

TheraPeds Partners is a therapist-owned and operated organization that partners with schools to provide American Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) services to PreK–12 students nationwide. As a team of special education providers, we understand the education process, IDEA requirements, and the importance of collaboration within multidisciplinary teams. Our mission is to deliver high-quality American Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) services while making meaningful connections in a collaborative learning environment. This is a full-time, on-site role as an American Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) serving a school located in Columbia, TN. The American Sign Language Interpreter (ASL) will be responsible for providing ASL services to students in the classroom setting and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams. The role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a passion for working with students with special needs.

Requirements

  • American Sign Language Interpretation Certification
  • EIPA score (3.5+)
  • Passing written test
  • Documentation submitted to CDE
  • Fluency in ASL and English
  • Strong receptive and expressive ASL skills and the ability to interpret classroom instruction and student interactions accurately
  • Knowledge of IDEA and IEP processes
  • Background check and fingerprinting
  • Ability to support students throughout the school day
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise a high level of tact and discretion in both internal and external communications

Nice To Haves

  • RID certification (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf)
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree
  • Interpreter Training Program (ITP) or ASL-English interpreting degree
  • Experience interpreting in K-12 classrooms

Responsibilities

  • Provide ASL services to students in the classroom setting
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams
  • Deliver individualized student services while collaborating with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to support student success
  • Participate in evaluations, educational planning, progress monitoring, and other assigned professional responsibilities
