About The Position

ContextGlobal, Inc. is seeking a full-time American Sign Language staff interpreter to work in the Washington D.C. area. This role involves providing ASL interpreting support for Deaf and hard of hearing students and staff within the K-12 setting. The successful candidate will be assigned to a school for the duration of the school year or as needed, supporting students who use ASL as their primary mode of communication. The interview and screening process will be conducted in both ASL and spoken English.

Requirements

Completion of an Interpreter Training Program.
At least two years of experience as a sign language interpreter.
EIPA 3.5+ or NIC Certification.
Proficient Signing and voicing skills.
Ethical training.
Excellent customer service relations.
Interpersonal skills and ability to interact with colleagues from a variety of backgrounds (customers, colleagues, and management).
Knowledge of educational vocabulary and a strong understanding of ASL and Deaf culture.
TB screening.
Criminal background check and fingerprinting.
Drug test.

Nice To Haves

Graduated from an accredited interpreter training program.
