About The Position

Fairview is seeking an American Sign Language (ASL) Corporate Interpreter to join our team at the University Park location in St. Paul. This is a unique opportunity to play a vital role in supporting effective communication and inclusive care across our organization. This position is approved for 48 hours every two weeks and is benefits eligible. The schedule for this role will fluctuate based on business needs, with a guaranteed minimum of 48 hours per pay period. This role will work with our corporate function(s) as needed for Fairview Health Services and support interactions at the leadership and executive level. The perfect candidate for this position will have a great understanding of language that is needed when discussing Accessibility, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Affordable Care Act 1557, Customer Service (customer experience) ideals, and high register dialogue. Also, they must have proficiency in managing high – level meetings involving multiple participants both onsite and virtually. In downtime, this role will support other employees throughout the system or may support other department interpreting needs.

Requirements

  • A.A./A.S. Interpreting or related field
  • 5 years Generalist Interpreting
  • National Certification Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf Upon Hire

  • B.S./B.A. Interpreting or related field
  • 5 years Corporate/Executive Level Interpreting
  • Great understanding of language that is needed when discussing Accessibility, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Affordable Care Act 1557, Customer Service (customer experience) ideals, and high register dialogue.
  • Proficiency in managing high – level meetings involving multiple participants both onsite and virtually.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to interpret complex concepts into ASL and voice into English or transliterate, whatever is called for in that situation
  • Manage understand how to navigate a variety of in-person settings or virtual software promoting communicative autonomy
  • Must understand and have experience with team interpreting, professional language, and healthcare concepts
  • Manage and communicates unanticipated changes throughout the day
  • Adheres to the RID code of Professional Conduct and fairviews own guiding principles
  • Manages Workflow within Microsoft Outlook, Teams, and EPIC (Health Information System)
