This role provides direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse, supporting clinical, procedural, and unit-based operations in the ASC setting. The successful candidate will ensure a safe, clean, and efficient patient care environment while delivering compassionate, patient-centered care and supporting the surgical team with equipment, supply, and procedural readiness.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Graduate of Certified Nursing Attendant Program.
  • Certified as a CNA.
  • At least 6 months relevant experience.
  • BLS or Heartsaver CPR/AED certification (Issued by the American Heart Association-AHA) is required upon entry to the position.
  • Working knowledge of English is evident in verbal, reading and writing abilities.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, grooming, toileting, feeding, and mobility support.
  • Perform vital signs monitoring (BP, pulse, temperature, oxygen saturation, respirations), weight, and intake/output tracking; report abnormalities to RN.
  • Conduct patient rounds to address comfort, safety, and personal needs; respond promptly to call lights.
  • Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges, including patient preparation, belongings management, and escorting.
  • Support basic clinical tasks such as specimen collection, simple treatments, enema support, oxygen and suction setup.
  • Observe and report changes in patient condition.
  • Ensure operating/procedural rooms and units are stocked and prepared with necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Provide direct assistance to surgical/procedural teams.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of sterile technique and infection prevention practices.
  • Assist with patient preparation for procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient care environment.
  • Manage equipment readiness, stocking, and supply accountability.
  • Follow infection control, safety, and hazardous materials protocols.
  • Assist in emergency situations and respond to clinical alarms.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Deliver compassionate, respectful, culturally competent care.
  • Respond to patient and family concerns appropriately.
  • Complete delegated tasks from nursing staff and support workflow.
  • Assist with patient transport and unit operations.
  • Participate in meetings and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support onboarding and guidance of new staff.
  • Maintain competencies and complete required training.
  • Demonstrate accountability for patient care and resources.
  • Seek learning opportunities and request assistance when needed.
