This role provides technical knowledge in preparing instruments, equipment and supplies for procedures and/or assists the team with the technical portion of the procedure. The Ambulatory Proc Tech 1 selects required equipment and supplies for procedures based on provider’s preferences adapted for specific procedures and individual patients, and prepares the room for procedures. They assemble, test, and ensure the correct working order of all supplies and equipment prior to and during procedures. The technician provides technical assistance to the provider with technical requirements of the procedure, collection of specimens using anatomical landmarks and knowledge of disease process, and manages specimen labeling and processing. They disassemble, identify defective or malfunctioning parts, and provide preventive maintenance for all procedures supplies and equipment. This role performs all pre-cleaning requirements per regulatory standards of all endoscopes, including inspection, leak testing, cleaning, high-level disinfecting, and identifying needed repairs. They follow established protocols for reprocessing endoscopes and accessories and for storing equipment. The Ambulatory Proc Tech 1 applies principles of aseptic technique theories to equipment preparation and maintenance and when assisting with procedures, and identifies any potential compromise to sterile/High Level Disinfectant integrity of items throughout the procedure. Based on material and/or manufacturer's instruction, they determine methods of High-Level Disinfection mode for products, and check and calibrate equipment according to equipment protocol. The technician works with physicians and nurses in the selection of new inventory, maintains professional relationships and communicates with vendors and internal purchasing department, and updates protocols and equipment/supply preference lists of physicians. They also assist office staff with scheduling procedures and appointments.
