The nurse organizes and prioritizes patient care; maintains clear communication; develops and evaluates care, education, and discharge plans; documents care and progress; and provides a safe environment. Duties also include safe medication administration and nursing procedures, infection prevention, collaboration with patients, families, and colleagues, participation in quality improvement and unit activities, professional education and development, support for research, economical use of time and materials, participation in staff orientation and evaluation as appropriate, and adherence to hospital and nursing policies.
