About The Position

This technician position is responsible for the completion of ambulatory infusion prior authorizations and the entry of medication therapy plans into Epic. The role involves working with a team of pharmacists and other pharmacy technicians to evaluate infusion medication requests and facilitate the prior authorization process. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and time management skills, be able to work in a team environment to provide safe and efficient care to patients through timely completion of prior authorizations, follow-through on all assigned tasks, be accountable for assigned work metrics, and demonstrate a commitment to optimizing medication access for patients.

Requirements

  • High School Degree or Equivalent
  • 2 years of work experience
  • Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician by the State of South Carolina Board of Pharmacy (SCBOP) is required and must be maintained.
  • Must obtain and maintain Pharmacy Technician Certification (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT)) certification: New Team members as of 11/1/2023: within 6 months of hire.
  • New team members who are enrolled or will enroll in a pharmacy technician training program accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and/or recognized by PTCB, have 30 days post program completion to obtain certification.
  • 1 year of work experience
  • National certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) is required and must be maintained.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with completion of prior authorizations preferred.
