The Staff Nurse in the Division of Colorectal Surgery at Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH) provides high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to adult surgical patients, specifically those undergoing colorectal surgical procedures, within an ambulatory setting. This role is crucial in supporting patient care through clinical telephone triage, care coordination, patient education, and close collaboration with Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) and the interdisciplinary care team to ensure safe, timely, and effective care. The Staff Nurse is responsible for systematically collecting and assessing patient health status data to develop, execute, and evaluate care plans in the ambulatory/outpatient setting. They perform necessary assessments, administer treatments, and communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team. Additionally, the Staff Nurse provides essential patient and family education and psychosocial/emotional support, ensuring care is safe, holistic, efficient, effective, timely, and meets the diverse cultural, spiritual, and ethnic needs of each patient and family.
