About The Position

This is a full-time position in the AMG Sheboygan - Family Medicine department, working 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, with hours potentially varying slightly between 7:30 AM and 5:00 PM. The role may also consider a 36-hour work week. The pay range for this position is $20.80 - $31.20.

Requirements

  • Current BLS certification or will obtain within first 6 months of hire
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience taking patient vital signs preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred

Responsibilities

  • Answers telephones, transfers calls as appropriate, gathers information for messaging.
  • Schedules appointments, performs patient check-in, informs clinician of delays and status of waiting patients, performs visit closure.
  • Directs or escorts patients or visitors to appropriate area, provides return to work/school paperwork, and immunization records.
  • Responsible for rooming patients along with tasks defined in the ACA Scope of Practice grid following established procedures.
  • Responsible for safe, accurate specimen collection including patient identification and labeling based on laboratory collection procedures and communicate to the clinician any delays in obtaining results.
  • Collection and performance of POCT is limited as defined in the ACA Scope of Practice Grid.
  • Accurately performs and maintains site quality control logs in accordance with standards for maintaining CLIA certification.
  • Maintains test tracking log (if applicable).
  • Manage patient flow, including cleaning and preparing rooms.
  • Using Emergent Symptom List as a guide to direct urgent and emergent concerns to the clinical team/clinician as appropriate.
  • Knowledgeable of where emergency equipment is located and role in medical emergencies.
  • Distribute, as instructed by the care team/clinician, written patient education and discharge instructions. (may not review or reinforce)
  • Assists patients in obtaining additional services ordered by the clinician as part of discharge planning and scheduling/entering referrals as directed.
  • Practices standard precautions in all patients encounters as appropriate.
  • Orders supplies as directed and maintains inventory par levels using standard products.
  • Reports equipment concerns to site leadership.
  • May be required to perform other related duties as assigned.
