About The Position

Performs basic nursing skills and/or serves under the direction and supervision of the practice physician and/or registered nursing staff. The role supports patient visits through rooming, obtaining initial information and vital signs, assisting with examinations and procedures, scheduling appointments and referrals, and providing follow-up education. It also includes maintaining exam-room supplies and cleanliness, quality-control logs, and medical equipment, helping patients complete medical documentation, and performing office administrative and closing tasks.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program or one year of experience in a clinical setting.
Obtain Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.
Ability to use and care for equipment including printers, embossers, and computers.
Ability to communicate effectively with staff and patients.
Ability to adapt to changing environments.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to organize and prioritize work.
Ability to exert up to 50 pounds occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly.
Ability to bend, stoop, reach, rotate normally, and stand and walk during an 8–12-hour shift.

Nice To Haves

Completion of healthcare education coursework.
One year of healthcare experience.

Responsibilities

Greet and escort patients to exam rooms; prepare for physician visits by obtaining initial information and vital signs.
Prepare exam rooms, ensuring cleanliness and adequate supplies.
Assist with and/or perform examinations, tests, and procedures.
Schedule appointments and arrange referral contacts as needed.
Assist providers during patient examinations and procedures.
Educate patients on follow-up expectations.
Maintain required quality-control testing logs.
Ensure medical equipment is in proper working condition.
Assist patients with completing medical documentation.
Perform office administrative tasks, including answering phones, taking messages, copying, printing, data entry, and assisting with cash deposits and other closing duties.
