About The Position

AMR is hiring Ambulance Operators (Drivers) for a full-time opportunity. The role involves responding to emergency and non-emergency requests for transportation, delivering high-quality care, treatment, and customer service to patients. This position requires efficient transportation of customers to and from facilities, accurate documentation of trip information, and adherence to company policies while maintaining patient confidentiality and rights. Drivers are responsible for maintaining a safe and clean vehicle environment, performing regular mechanical checklists, and reporting any vehicle issues. Effective communication via radio transmission and compliance with information security standards are essential. The role also involves operating transportation equipment such as stretchers, hydraulic lifts, and wheelchairs, using personal protective equipment, and managing supply disposal. Collaboration with allied health, public safety personnel, and the internal team is expected.

Requirements

  • State Driver’s License
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Driving record in compliance with company policy
  • Pass Physical Agility Test
  • Some work experience, preferably in healthcare

Responsibilities

  • Respond to operation and dispatch requests and use the necessary tools, maps and addresses to efficiently transport customers to and from facilities in a timely manner.
  • Clearly document trip information details and adhere to company policies and procedures while maintaining confidentiality and patient rights.
  • Take pride in maintaining a safe and clean vehicle environment for patients, complete the regular mechanical checklist at the start of shifts and report any vehicle issues to the Fleet Manager as needed.
  • Use appropriate communication methods including standard radio transmission codes to effectively respond and route patients and comply with the company’s information security standards.
  • Operate transportation equipment including stretcher, hydraulic lift, wheelchair as well as be able to use protective personal equipment and manage disposal of supplies as necessary.
  • Work collaboratively and in a professional manner with all allied health and public safety personnel as well as your fellow drivers and operations team.
