About The Position

Assist Ambulance is looking for drivers with a passion for healthcare to join us at our Bronx location as part-time or full-time MVOs (Motor Vehicle Operators) working alongside Emergency Medical Technicians to provide exceptional emergency medical services with Basic Life Support. This is a very interactive job that will require interactions with patients, staff members, and involves lifting and carrying patients, in addition to safely driving the ambulance throughout all five boroughs. Assist Ambulance will train and evaluate drivers according to Assist's safe driving policies and procedures. If you are not already, Assist will also help get you certified in CPR to be able to start driving the ambulance and providing care to patients alongside the EMT.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Must have 2 years driving experience in New York City.
  • Must have a valid New York State D Class driver’s license with no more than 6 points on your driving abstract.
  • DJ licenses and out of state licenses are not accepted.
  • Must be willing to complete a CPR certification by date of hire.
  • Must be physically fit to lift 125 lbs. in accordance with the NYS DOH and pass a lifting assessment.
  • Must be able to get 19A physical clearance and negative PPD test.
  • Must pass two driving assessments.
  • Must be able to pass a 10 panel drug screening.
  • Must be able to commit to at least two 8-hour shifts per week that are the same days every week (steady shifts).
  • Must be good with people.
  • Applicants' criminal history will be considered consistent with the requirements of the New York City Fair Chance Act.

Nice To Haves

  • Per diem is not available at this time, only part time or full time steady scheduling (same shifts every week).

Responsibilities

  • Safely drive the ambulance throughout all five boroughs.
  • Provide Basic Life Support alongside Emergency Medical Technicians.
  • Interact with patients and staff members.
  • Lift and carry patients.
  • Complete CPR certification.
  • Complete two driving assessments.
  • Undergo a 19A physical clearance and negative PPD test.
  • Pass a 10 panel drug screening.
  • Act responsibly under extreme duress.
