About The Position

An Ambulance Coding Specialist is a focused individual who is energetic and self-motivated. This person uses their knowledge of Ambulance (ground and air) coding and billing to ensure correct claims are created and paid. Requirements

• Certified Ambulance Coder Certification
• High School education or GED
• Medical Terminology
• Good communication skills – written and verbal
• Collaborative
• Process oriented

Nice To Haves

• CPC
• Two (2) years’ experience with ambulance coding and/or billing

Responsibilities

• Registration of ambulance encounters
• Assignment of CPT/HCPCS codes in accordance with all current coding guidelines
• Entry of charges for ground transport
• Billing to and collections from all third-party payers
• Ensuring goals and objectives established by leadership are met
• Responsible for identifying denials and submitting appeals as appropriate
• Identifying trends and making recommendations for improvements
• Professional appearance and behavior at all times
• Other duties as assigned and overtime as requested or required
