About The Position

This role involves administrative services and operations for health care clinics or centers, adhering to federal, local, and internal standards, policies, and regulations. It typically encompasses operations, fiscal management, program planning, and external marketing. Management levels may include oversight of clinical patient care. The Practice Supervisor will oversee clinic operations and supervise administrative staff at UCSF’s Redwood Shores Specialty Care Clinic (RWS), with shared oversight over patient support staff like medical assistants and LVNs in coordination with the Administrative Nurse Manager. The role is responsible for the operational, human resource, administrative, and business functions of RWS, including practice revenue management, billing systems, facilities and safety, registration, new patient coordination, scheduling, medical records, and insurance authorizations. The incumbent must be able to perform and prioritize multiple tasks, work well with staff, patients, and providers, and demonstrate independence, initiative, assertiveness, and diplomacy in a complex environment. This is a working supervisor position, requiring the incumbent to support practice operations by performing administrative tasks such as answering phones, registration, scheduling, working on workqueues, and assisting with facilities upkeep. The Practice Supervisor is expected to maintain a calm, professional, and courteous demeanor, complying with Medical Center House and Telephone Standards and role-modeling AIDET & Living PRIDE standards.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising the operational, human resource, administrative and business functions of RWS.
  • Overseeing clinic operations.
  • Supervising administrative staff at UCSF’s Redwood Shores Specialty Care Clinic (RWS).

  • Working well with staff, patients and providers.
  • Supporting practice operations by answering phones, doing registration, scheduling new patients, working on workqueues, assisting with basic facilities upkeep, and performing other administrative tasks as assigned.

  • Working with leadership in the departments of Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery, Orthopaedics, Urology, Audiology, Radiology, and Sterile Processing.
  • Collaborating with practice leadership and providers in supporting practice goals.
  • Attending management meetings at the discretion of the Administrative Nurse Manager or Practice Manager.
  • Collaborating with practice leadership to develop, monitor and maintain systems pertaining to all aspects of their function(s).
  • Participating in and leading process improvement initiatives aligned with our True North Pillars.
  • Providing support across other UCSF Health ambulatory sites as needed to meet operational demands.
