The Alumni Relations Student Assistant supports the CLAS Alumni Relations team in engaging alumni, coordinating events, and maintaining accurate data that strengthens alumni participation and philanthropic support. This role offers hands-on experience in higher education advancement, communications, and alumni engagement.

Requirements

  • Enrollment at the University of Connecticut
  • A student in good standing related to grade point average and student code of conduct
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Professional, friendly, and dependable demeanor
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Nice To Haves

  • Interest in alumni relations, communications, or advancement preferred
  • Familiarity with Social Media tools is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning and execution of alumni events, including but not limited to logistics, registration, and on-site support
  • Ability to work with the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences communications team in supporting alumni communications including; drafting emails, newsletter, and social media content. This may include developing social media content, writing alumni profiled, or coordinating with communications team on stories for alumni newsletters.
  • Conduct data entry and updates in alumni CRM system (e.g., contact information, event attendance, engagement notes)
  • Research alumni backgrounds to support outreach, stewardship, and engagement strategies
  • Work with Foundation support staff on alumni list requests and email support for units within CLAS
  • Prepare materials for meetings, events, and presentations (packets, nametags, reports, etc.)
  • Help manage RSVP lists, attendance tracking, and post-event follow-up
  • Provide general administrative support as needed
