About The Position

The Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association (WFAA) is seeking an Alumni Engagement and Awards Program Intern for the 2026–2027 academic year. This internship offers a student the chance to gain experience in alumni relations and nonprofit work by assisting with the Wisconsin Alumni Association’s Alumni Awards program. The intern will work closely with the Senior Director of Administrative Programs and the Alumni Relations and Engagement team to research nominees, prepare materials, manage data, support communications, coordinate events, and contribute to special projects. This role provides exposure to alumni, university partners, volunteers, and staff, offering valuable insights into nonprofit, advancement, and alumni relations.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in post-secondary degree program.
  • Interest in alumni relations, nonprofit organizations, higher education, communications, marketing, public relations, event planning, or related fields.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong research, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and basic database or spreadsheet work.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with customer service, events, student organizations, communications, research, or project coordination is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in team meetings, trainings, and program planning sessions.
  • Support the Alumni Awards Program by researching nominees, drafting and editing nomination materials, organizing recipient information, and assisting with stewardship and recipient communications.
  • Support Alumni Engagement Programs and Special Projects by conducting research, assisting with engagement initiatives and special projects, and collaborating with staff.
  • Provide Communications and Marketing Support by reviewing promotional materials, gathering alumni information, drafting correspondence, and supporting outreach efforts.
  • Provide Data Management and Administrative Support by assisting with data entry, record maintenance, reporting, list management, and responding to constituent inquiries.
  • Assist with event planning, preparation, logistics, and on-site execution, including preparing materials, supporting registration, greeting attendees, and assisting with setup and teardown.
  • Become familiar with WFAA programs and initiatives.
  • Provide thoughtful, helpful service to alumni, donors, volunteers, and campus partners.
  • Represent UW–Madison and WFAA in a positive and professional way.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
