About The Position

The Boys & Girls Club of Milford is looking for an energetic, dependable, and flexible Alternate Site Director to join our team. This position will primarily be based at our Simon Lake Unit, while also providing leadership support at our school-based sites and Teen Center when needed. The Alternate Site Director will help keep programs running smoothly, support staff, build relationships with members and families, and step in to provide leadership coverage when a Director or Supervisor is unavailable. Some days you may be running an activity with members, while other days you may be helping staff solve a problem, speaking with a parent, handling an incident, opening or closing a program, or heading to another Club location to provide coverage. We’re looking for someone who is organized, confident, flexible, and able to think on their feet. You don't need to have all the answers; you need to be someone who can stay calm, communicate well, use good judgment, and know when to ask for support.

Requirements

A minimum of three years of experience working with children and/or teens in youth development, childcare, education, recreation, after-school programming, camp, or a related setting.
At least two years of supervisory or management experience, with demonstrated experience providing leadership, guidance, and accountability to staff.
An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Development, Human Services, Recreation, Social Work, Youth Development, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and professional experience.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently while also being part of a larger team.
Ability to complete all required BGCM training and certifications.
Reliable transportation and ability to travel between BGCM program locations when needed.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience with a Boys & Girls Club or similar youth-serving organization is preferred but not required.
Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
The ability to effectively communicate and build positive relationships with youth, families, staff, school personnel, and community partners.
The ability to remain professional, composed, and solution-focused in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities and adapt to changing program needs.

Responsibilities

Help oversee daily Club operations and provide leadership coverage when a Director or Supervisor is unavailable.
Support, guide, and supervise program staff throughout the day.
Build positive relationships with members and communicate professionally with parents and guardians.
Help respond to behavioral concerns, injuries, incidents, and accidents while following BGCM procedures.
Open and/or close program locations as scheduled.
Jump in and lead games, activities, enrichment programs, or member groups when needed.
Help ensure members are safely supervised and that attendance, headcounts, transitions, and dismissal procedures are followed.
Help staff problem-solve and make adjustments when schedules, staffing, programming, or other daily needs change.
Travel to BGCM school sites or the Teen Center when additional leadership coverage is needed.
Communicate important concerns, incidents, staffing needs, and program updates to Club leadership.
Help create a positive, welcoming, safe, and fun environment for members and staff.
