About The Position

The individual will act as an Alternate Foreman, overseeing the work of field work crews. The individual will work closely with the shift Foreman and assist with the day-to-day responsibility for ensuring a smooth-running operation as well as act as “point-of-contact” with client personnel. It will be expected that their knowledge of field operations will be used to aid in the development of quotes and work plans, as well as Job Hazard Assessments.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 Required
  • Minimum 3 years related work experience; Required
  • previous experience in operations, leadership or supervision
  • Ability to manage and coordinate multiple projects in a fastpaced, highly professional environment.
  • A class 5 Driver’s License is mandatory with clean abstract
  • Ability to operate a boat is required
  • Proficiency to use/operate test and inspection equipment and devices
  • Experience recording test results, writing brief reports
  • Understanding of related technical standards and industry terminologies
  • Must be self-motivated and able to multi-task
  • Must be able to read, understand and follow work instructions in a safe, accurate and timely manner.
  • Ability to work well with others & independently.
  • Proven time management skills and a strong attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations for the field team(s) to ensure deliverables are met; delegate responsibilities and activities as required.
  • Provide feedback to team members regarding safe job performance through workplace Behavior-Based Safety observations.
  • Act as point of contact between Operations and Staff regarding day-to-day activities.
  • Participate in the Operations Shift Change Meeting as required.
  • Proactively manage communication and relationships between various parties to ensure integration and effective execution of the job scope.
  • Implement QA/QC, auditing and other project services deliverables.
  • Assist in the development of quotes and work plans for new and existing project deliverables.
  • Review time sheets for employees under own supervision.
  • Be responsible for procuring necessary replenishments to consumables inventory.
  • In cooperation with SGS’ HSE representative, provide an initial investigation report for any incidents involving SGS personnel attached to the project.
  • Perform, record, and manage Job Hazard Assessments.
  • May be assigned special or ad hoc projects, periodically.
  • Oversee the crew and give directions to ensure tasks are executed on a daily basis.
  • Take direction from Foreman.
  • Supply inventory report as needed for ordering supplies.
  • Monitor software, correct and troubleshoot errors.
  • Assist in hardware maintenance of radar trailers.
  • Housekeeping in all business areas.
  • Liaison with the technical specialists and environmental technicians.
  • Interface with other ground crews and tailings crews.
  • Provide any data requested that can be reproduced from the radar system.
  • Provide maps, plotted data maps and current configuration information.
  • Participate in tours to provide technical information about the bird deterrent program.
