About The Position

Special Aerospace Security Services, Inc. (SASSI) is seeking a highly detail-oriented Alternate COMSEC Manager. This position is responsible for the secure handling, safeguarding, inventory control, issuance, accountability, transfer, and destruction of Communications Security (COMSEC) material across multiple facilities. The Alternate COMSEC Manager ensures strict compliance with all applicable federal regulations, agency standards, and program-specific procedures for protecting classified cryptographic information and devices.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Active Secret clearance at time of application, with the ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI with SAP eligibility.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience serving as a Primary or Alternate COMSEC Custodian.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of COMSEC practices and regulations, including: Handling, accountability, and destruction of classified cryptographic material. Key management, secure communications, and safeguarding of classified information.
  • Experience maintaining COMSEC logs, inventories, and other required documentation with 100% accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently while ensuring full compliance with government and agency security standards.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and reliability.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook) for recordkeeping and reporting.
  • Ability to physically handle and move COMSEC equipment and related materials.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • IAM Level I Certification (per DoD Directive 8140/8570) (Examples: Security+ CE, GSLC, CAP, or equivalent DoD-approved certification)
  • Completion of a COMSEC Certification course (or equivalent DoD-approved training).
  • Previous experience supporting SAP, SCI, or Special Access Programs (SAPs).
  • Experience supporting new facility stand-ups (e.g., SCIF or classified facility accreditation processes).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary custodian for all COMSEC materials, including hardware, keying material, Controlled Cryptographic Items (CCI), and classified documents.
  • Receive, inventory, issue, transfer, ship, and destroy COMSEC material in accordance with: CNSSI 4003 (COMSEC Incident Reporting and Evaluation), CNSSI 4005 (COMSEC Facilities and Material Safeguarding), National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM) / 32 CFR Part 117.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and auditable records including: Daily COMSEC accountability logs, Hand receipts, Destruction reports, Transfer and receipt documentation.
  • Administer the facility’s Key Management Infrastructure (KMI) accounts and/or traditional Electronic Key Management System (EKMS) accounts as applicable.
  • Conduct and document: Initial, semiannual, and annual COMSEC inventories. Spot checks and reconciliations.
  • Manage emergency destruction procedures and ensure compliance with Emergency Action Plans (EAPs).
  • Conduct COMSEC briefings and debriefings for authorized users.
  • Develop and maintain COMSEC Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and EAPs for each supported location.
  • Immediately report any suspected or actual COMSEC incidents and perform detailed incident documentation and coordination with government authorities.
  • Package, wrap, and ship classified or cryptographic materials in accordance with secure handling procedures.
  • Provide training and awareness briefings to staff requiring access to COMSEC or cryptographic equipment.
