About The Position

A Bloomingdale’s Alteration Support Professional plays a critical role in the daily operations of the store and helps deliver a convenient, enjoyable customer experience. The role involves sewing garments and performing basic to advanced alterations, including work on sleeves, backs, sides, collars, and bodices, as well as minor repairs and button replacement. The associate is expected to provide quality work that meets customer specifications, is completed on time, and helps reduce waste and achieve profitability.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
1–2 years of direct experience.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and share information with diverse groups of customers and peers.
Resourcefulness and the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to work a flexible retail schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
Ability to stand or walk for prolonged periods; the role may involve reaching, crouching, kneeling, stooping, color vision, and climbing ladders.
Frequently lift or move up to 25 pounds.
Frequently use computers and other technology, including handheld electronic equipment.

Responsibilities

Provide detailed information about alteration services and their value, and respond to customer inquiries.
Deliver quality work correctly the first time and on time, meeting customer specifications.

Perform minor garment repairs and replace buttons.
