About The Position

Neiman Marcus is a leading luxury retailer known for its curated product assortment, unparalleled services, and exclusive activations. The Alterations Associate will be responsible for conducting alterations, resizing, and restyling of all merchandise retailed in Neiman Marcus stores. This role will also assist fitters in achieving their goals by providing professional assistance with the fit, alterability, and structural quality of apparel merchandise.

Requirements

• Experience in a tailoring operation or industrial sewing environment, with exposure to a variety of garment styles and types of fabrics, is preferred.
• Ability to read English and understand instructions.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure.

Responsibilities

• Alter constructed garments to meet the standard of quality set by Neiman Marcus, equal to or better than original construction.
• Alter seams (vented or unvented), take in shoulder blades, reduce chest, and narrow shoulders.
• Rotate sleeves and shorten sleeves.
• Shorten back, shorten collar, and square shoulders.
• Shorten coat, re-line coat, or remake inside or outside pockets.
• Operate and maintain all sewing equipment.
• Self-inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met.
• Complete assigned alteration tasks.
• Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written and oral form.
• Complete tasks assigned by Manager, Supervisor, or Lead.
