About The Position

Neiman Marcus is a leading luxury retailer known for its curated product assortment, unparalleled services, and exclusive activations. The Alterations Associate, also referred to as a Tailor, will be responsible for conducting alterations, resizing, and restyling of all merchandise retailed in Neiman Marcus stores. This role will also assist fitters in achieving their goals by providing professional assistance with the fit, alterability, and structural quality of apparel merchandise.

Requirements

• Ability to read English and understand instructions from a Manager, Supervisor, or Lead.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations: add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a tailoring operation or industrial sewing environment.
• Exposure to a variety of garment styles and types of fabrics.

Responsibilities

• Alter constructed garments to meet the standard of quality set by Neiman Marcus, ensuring it is equal to or better than original construction.
• Perform alterations such as adjusting seams (vented or unvented), taking in shoulder blades, reducing chest measurements, and narrowing shoulders.
• Rotate and shorten sleeves.
• Shorten the back of garments, shorten collars, and square shoulders.
• Shorten coats, re-line coats, or remake inside or outside pockets.
• Operate and maintain all sewing equipment.
• Self-inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met.
• Complete assigned alteration tasks as directed by a Supervisor or Lead.
• Interpret a variety of instructions provided in written and oral form.
• Complete tasks assigned by a Manager, Supervisor, or Lead.
